Tranquility & Pampering at The Buff Day Spa, Dublin

Tranquility & Pampering at The Buff Day Spa, Dublin

You could refer to my spa visits as a busman’s holiday. Let’s face it over 22 years in the industry I’ve had more massages, wraps and facials than hot dinners. I often think I can’t be wowed anymore and yet again I am proven wrong.

As I battle through the hustle and bustle of Dublin city centre hearing the buskers outside the Gaiety theatre looking for their big break, I find the private entrance of The Buff Day Spa. I head up the stairs into the Victorian style building of St Stephen’s Green and wonder how a quiet, spa retreat can be found up here??

Yet the minute I am buzzed through the front door there is instant tranquility drawn upon me. I receive warm greeting at reception, I am checked in, then whisked off to change and enjoy the sauna and relaxation area before my treatment.

I have booked a Voya warm spiced mud wrap for my treatment today and after all this fabulous weather in Ireland my dehydrated skin is in much need of some nourishment.

Voya Organic Warm Spiced Mud Wrap - €95 (55 mins)

A serious detoxifier, metabolism stimulator and a natural anti-aging boost.

Seaweed taken fresh from the ocean is combined with purifying elements of peat to produce a mud wrap rich in potent anti-oxidants, minerals and enhanced with organic ginger and cinnamon. Definitely for the results-driven client, this wrap has immediate and noticeable effects on the skin, including firming and toning.

My therapist Emily, swoops me into her treatment room called The Emerald Room, - yes they all have names, I love it! Proper spa rituals with a complete treatment journey are still my favourite and this Voya wrap with the Buff Day Spa influence is just that. From the warm, relaxing foot ritual, to a gentle skin brush exfoliating and encouraging detoxification. Then a wonderful warm aromatic body mask applied all over before I am cocooned and enjoy a scalp massage, I forgot a long time ago that I am still nestled in the middle of a bustling town centre – it is but a distant memory now. I chose the scalp massage without oils as I was returning to work after but if you do have time to enjoy the oils, your hair will thank you for it – so nourishing. Even though I’ll probably never be ready for my treatment to end, after I shower off the warm mud, Emily then applies a gorgeous nourishing cream and I float back to the relaxation room with a mint tea and glass of water.

The relaxation room is completely sound proof so you will not be disturbed during your chill out time pre or post treatment.

A little R&R before heading back to work is so easy in The Buff Day Spa as the changing rooms have everything I need to get me ready for an afternoon of work. It also means I am not lugging a big bag around with me when I am in the city.

As I reluctantly get dressed and prepare to check out, I don’t forget the recommendations Emily made for me. My skin is very dehydrated at the moment so I take the nourishing body oil to give my skin a real boost and then for daily use I have the Softly Does It body moisturiser. Not forgetting hubby who have bad eczema and finds the Lazy Days seaweed bath so soothing for his skin. So that’s everyone sorted and a fabulous end to my gorgeous Voya spa journey in one of my favourite urban retreats in Dublin.

Until the next time guys – I will be back sooner than you think!
