Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa Experience

Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa Experience

What better way to start a day than setting off on a three hour drive to the picturesque town of Killarney on a gorgeous crisp sunny day! My mood was buoyant, my heart was upbeat and I was really looking forward to seeing what was in store for me at the 5* Aghadoe Heights!

As I entered the Aghadoe Heights Spa, the receptionist greeted me with such a warm welcome and a real, genuine smile, I felt totally at ease. She asked me to fill in a consultation card and strangely enough asked me to remove my shoes? Then it struck me, my lovely spa sandals were there in a basket waiting for my little tootsies, so no loud click clacking of heels throughout the spa...Genius!

The lovely receptionist who I suspected was the Spa Manager then gave me a delicious welcome drink and a steaming hot towel to freshen up. What a start! Not what you would normally expect in an Irish Spa!

She then proceeded to explain where everything was and showed me into the changing room. Once changed, I had an hour to use the thermal suite and what a thermal suite! I started off in the Laconium which has warm dry area and just tried to centre myself and breathe after the car journey. Then onto the hammam, sauna and aroma grotto interspersed with 3 different multi sensory showers which I absolutely loved!

Red, hot but nicely chilled, I stretched out one of the heated mosaic loungers in the gorgeous relaxation area. Now I know I’m not meant to have my phone, but there was no-one in there, so I snuck in a quick video...

At this stage I was so ready for my treatment. I had booked in for the Midweek Special of a Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage, Scalp & Foot treatment for €79. My therapist Brenda collected me from the relaxation area and off we went. The back massage was lovely, but not deep enough for my liking. However I really relaxed into it, so much so I felt myself nod off time and time again! The best part was when I thought it was over, she asked me to turn over and proceeded to do the most amazing scalp massage I’ve had in a while. That scalp massage was a wonderful experience, one I’d love to repeat again, just for the hour! At the end, I was totally chilled out and a bit spacey...always a good sign in my book! Brenda kindly brought me out to the relaxation area and I had a lovely sorbet. What was a really nice touch was that there was an iPod with headphones at each relaxation lounger, again not something you would see in every spa.

After a while, I decided to check out the pool area which was a short walk away. Gorgeous pool, gorgeous Jacuzzi and look at the view.

A perfect way to finish off my spa day. I didn’t want to leave but sadly all good things come to an end. I didn’t have time to check out the hotel itself, but if the spa is anything to go by, it will be another memorable experience.
